Tyler Shough enters the 2026 fantasy season as the clear starting quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, and that alone gives him immediate relevance in deeper leagues and superflex formats. New Orleans’ depth chart lists Shough at QB1 ahead of Spencer Rattler and Zach Wilson, and recent preseason reporting has confirmed the Saints are treating him like the starter while holding him out of preseason action with the rest of the key veterans.

The big fantasy appeal is opportunity: Shough should have every chance to put up usable passing volume in an offense that appears ready to build around him, and camp coverage has suggested the Saints are confident enough in his development to hand him the job early. He also flashed enough in his rookie stretch to earn some optimism, with analysts noting solid efficiency after he took over last season and a willingness to push the ball downfield.

The risk is still very real, though. Shough has a notable injury history that includes a broken collarbone, shoulder surgery, and a broken fibula, so durability is part of the evaluation every fantasy manager has to make. He also does not yet have a long track record of NFL production, which makes him more of a bet on role and upside than a safe weekly anchor.
